Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls...the excitement is building....I have 11 of 15 songs for Shenanigans completed!  It was an epic Thanksgiving week in the studio for sure.  Here are a few...let me know what you think!  doc-of-rock@hotmail.com

Never know why comes from deep in my heart.  I hope this song touches your soul like it does mine!  Plus my drum playing on this song is kick-butt...ha!

Another Day is co-written, with my friend, the one and only, Bruce Wilkinson, aka "the Rock".  It is such a fun song.  I love Wilk and I love this song; the bridge is one of my best!

There was a time in my life when I was afraid...this song was written about that time...I am scared no more...ha!

A big, big thing happened this year...we got to meet TR and spend time with him at a book signing.  He was so gracious.  He loved my cover of Shenanigans....he signed it for me.  I asked him to inscribe my book with whatever he was thinking of me at the time...JoJo was so proud of his inscription/description of me!

I hope you have a great holiday season filled with food, fun, family and music!

12/26/18:
I'm excited....progress is being made on my new album Shenanigans.  I have 5 songs done!  Yay!  The final mix version of each of these finished songs is listed below.  Give them a listen and let me know what you think @ doc-of-rock@hotmail.com.  It is always helpful to know how songs sound on different pieces of audio equipment.

Greek To Me - this song has received many positive comments

Phuckenay - this song has a deep personal meaning for me; explicit lyrics....ha!

Standing In Line - one of the reasons I love Amazon so much

The Ballad Of Isaac And JoJo - a really fun song that tells a great story

I have been diverted from guitar for a bit and thus from the recording process of the songs I have lined up for Shenanigans.  I bought a baby grand piano!  Wow, it is a beautiful instrument.  I call my piano "Tirza" after the original owner.  She is a 1976 Yamaha G2.  It is like driving a Ferrari.  I love playing her so much.  I am ultra motivated to learn new songs and I have been doing so.  Check out my youtube account for a few new songs on piano!

8/23/17:  It's been awhile...

Sorry fans, but I will go all night if you want me to...just throw money...throw money...I've decided right now that I am changing the name of the new album to "Throw Money"....no I am not!  This is a Todd quote from the album Something/Anything...one of the best albums ever recorded!

I have begun work on my new album.  I have been composing like crazy in the past several months.  I am targeting this winter to get the time in the studio that I need to get this album recorded.  The name for the new album is "Shenanigans".  Consider me a perpetrator...on several fronts...

By definition, shenanigans are silly, high-spirited, harmless attempts to confuse or fool that are full of mischief and intrigue.  Wow, that sounds like me and my songs!

I have been putting demos of songs for Shenanigans on youtube.  Here are a few links.  These are fairly rough versions, the studio versions will sound much better, but they give you an idea of my "Shenanigans"...

Link to the song "I've Got Your Back"
Link to the song "I'm OK"
Link to the song "Out Of My Mind"
Link to the song "Didn't Want"

I have been to a bunch of concerts in the past couple of years including Todd and Alice.  Upcoming are Deep Purple, Edgar Winter, Foo Fighters and Tommy Emmanuel.  These performers all inspire me!

I hope you are inspired to live each day to its fullest!  Inspiration and shenanigans each and every day for all!  :-)

2/24/14:  I am very proud to say that I am finished with Idioms.  I really like how this album has turned out.  To get more specific info on the album, go to the Idioms tab on this website.  You will find some explanations for the origin of the Idioms I have used and some of the new music!

Idioms should be available on iTunesamazon and all music services within a day or so.  Just type in Dennis Watson Idioms and you should locate it right away!

I changed the order of the music on this album.  Side 1 is electric.  Side 2 is acoustic.  I feel like I need to blow away any listeners with the first songs in order to get them to keep listening.  The acoustic stuff is really good too, but different.  Plus my singing is less noticeable on the electric tracks.

To quote Neil Young, songs are like children.  You give birth to them, they are born and raised and then sent out into the world to fend for themselves.  I love writing songs.  I think some of my songs are great, some not so great, some performed very well and some performed not so well.  But I love them all just the same.

Writing songs for me starts with a feeling.  I typically pick up a guitar and just start playing.  Then I start singing along with it.  Sometimes it just clicks and gives birth to a composition.  If you think too hard and work too hard at it, you get nowhere fast.  Neil says that songs are like rabbits; they like to come out of their holes when you are not looking.    If you stand over the rabbit hole waiting on them, they never come out.  Right on Neil, this describes it for me.

I hope you have a fraction of the fun listening to Idioms as I have had putting it together.  I have worked on this album for the past 2 years and it has been so much fun.  Rock on!  Now go check out my Idioms tab of this website to learn about the origin of some Idioms and maybe hear a tune or two.  Here's one to bide time until you get there....

01/15/14:  The Christmas holiday season has been very good to me...I am on Cloud 9...I was able to get 10 songs recorded for Idioms!  Yay!  4 to go.  Still doing some tweaking on the mixes for a couple of them.  I hope to get this album done in 2014.  Here is a little taste of what is to come....

11/28/13 - Thanksgiving:  Can you imagine your life without music?  I cannot.  My love of listening and playing music is at the core of my being.  So I am very thankful to have music in my life.

How did this come to be?  First of all, I was fortunate to have exposure to the tools needed for music - a way to listen and instruments to play.  My mom and dad and school were responsible for this.  And I was fortunate to have musical influences that I respected and idolized....among them were Gary Sauerbraun, Herb Alpert, the Monkees (haha, I admit it), Alice Cooper, Ritchie Blackmore, Buck Dharma, Neil Young, Dave Grohl and the master of creativity, Todd Rundgren.

So I am very thankful for those of you, listed and unlisted, that have helped me to have this love of music in my life.  That leads me to my next thought....I will call it "Love In Action"....

There are many children in this world who do not have access to ways to listen or play music.  They don't have inspiration or idols either.  Until now.

Just when I thought our hero could not top his latest albums of creativity, here he goes again.  He and some of his closest fans have created the Spirit Of Harmony Foundation.  Check out Todd's message at
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDbd8O0Ra3s&feature=share.  Click here to go to the Spirit Of Harmony website:  https://www.facebook.com/SpiritOfHarmonyFoundation

Stay tuned to the Spirit Of Harmony facebook page to find out how you can turn your love of music into action.  You can sign up and receive email alerts and messages.  One thing I am sure of is that this group of people are going to come up with many creativee ideas and ways to get involved.

Music can and will change the world for the better.  Put your love in action and get involved today.  Many little people will be forever indebted....

Now, for a shameless act of self promotion, check out my latest creation on youtube.  I call this one "Sour Grapes".  It will be featured on my next album entitled "Idioms".  Click here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3qgU01crcE

Peace be with you....
Doc

Here is a song off my first album.  I wrote this song when I was 19 years old.  Let me know what you think...it is called "Cooked".

Here is a song off the Live At Kelsey Drive album that AJ and I did together.  I like this one a lot...let me know what you think:  Words

3/12/12:  I'm working on this new website to replace www.not50.com and www.endurecd.com.  I think I will devote a page to each of my CD's - 3 of them.  That leaves this home page and then a page for miscellaneous stuff.  Yep, that's my plan.  Time to get busy.  I need to get this website done so I can go work on some music! Well, it's not really work, but you get my drift!  Rock On!
